Two Big Questions: Question 1- Have you come to a place in your spiritual journey that you know for certain that if you died today that you would go to Heaven? Question 2- Suppose you were to die today and God said "Why should I let you into My Heaven? What would you say? If you are not sure what you would say then read these five things and the prayer at the end so you can be sure that you have Eternal Life. The Bible tells us
1. HEAVEN IS A FREE GIFT, IT IS NOT EARNED OR DESERVED- No amount of personal effort or good works or religious deeds can merit you a place in Heaven. "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yoursselves: It is the gift of God; Not of Works, lest any man should boast." Eph.2:8-9
2. MAN IS A SINNER AND CANNOT SAVE HIMSELF-Sin is transgressing God's moral law either openly or in your heart. Sin can include such things as lying, anger, lust, cheating, stealing, deceit, evil thoughts, immoral behavior and the like. And that includes everyone. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God."Romans 3:23 It is recognizing that your sin has separated you from a Righteous and Holy God. God's standard is 100% and only one, Jesus Christ, has achieved that mark. However in spite of our sins....
3. GOD IS MERCIFUL AND THEREFORE DOES NOT WANT TO PUNISH US. The Bible says "God is love" and God loves us with an "everlasting love." (I John 4:8/Jeremiah 31:3) God demonstrated this great love when he sent His Son Jesus Christ to redeem us. But the same Bible that says that God is Love also says GOD IS JUST AND MUST PUNISH SIN. "The soul that sins, it shall die." Ezekiel 18:4 Death is the penalty for sin. Eternal death is separation from God forever. But the Good News is that God has solved this problem.
4. JESUS CHRIST- Jesus came into this world and lived a sinless life. Jesus satisfied God's standard of 100% righteousness. And most important He died on the cross to pay the penalty of our sins. Here is the Good News! "For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness og God in him." II Corinthians 5:21 He takes our sins and then He gives us His Righteousness. Now He died for the world and yet not everyone goes to Heaven. So who gets this gift of eternal life? This gift is recieved by faith.
5.FAITH IS THE KEY TO RECIEVING THIS GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE. But what is faith? Let's look at first that faith is not just believing certain facts about Christ. It is not mere HEAD KNOWLEDGE. We can believe the head knowledge about Christ. We can even grow up in a Christian home; be a member of a church; read our Bible;and even be baptized and not be a genuine "born-again" Christian. SAVING FAITH IS TRUSTING IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE FOR YOUR SALVATION. It means resting upon Christ alone and what He has done for your forgivness with God. "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord jesus Christ." Romans 5:1 There must have been a point in the time of your life whereby you placed your trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. It is transferring your trust from your own self-righteousness(which falls way short of God's standard of righteousness) and placing your inner faith and trust in the person of Jesus Christ alone. We then are made acceptable before a Holy God and given forgivness. "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he made us accepted in the Beloved(Christ). In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgivness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." Ephesians 1:6-7
WOULD YOU LIKE TO RECIEVE THIS GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE- PRAY THIS PRAYER- "Dear God, thank you for loving me even in my sins. I acknowledge my sins and failing to be all you want me to be. I need your forgivness. I understand that Jesus Christ came to give His life for my sins. I can't save myself and I trust you Jesus Christ right now to be my Saviour. Forgive me of my sins. I now trust you alone for eternal life and to make peace with God for me through your blood. Thank you for saving me. I ask you to come into my heart and give me your Holy Spirit as a sign that you have forgiven me and that I am your child. I want you to guide and direct my life from this day forward as the Lord of my life. In Jesus Name I pray." Read this prayer and make it your prayer in your words. But most of all, trust Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord.
